Getting the 2013 summary out a bit late - too busy doing stocking stuffers. ^^ And work. And bettas. o.o Last year was pretty busy, and I didn't get anywhere near my writing goal. Maybe this year will be better {crosses fingers}. Still, I did get a few things out, so it's worth going back to see what they were.

The Story Index for reference.

(note - chose as many/few fics as you want in each category... whichever ones you liked best!)

[Poll #1954468]

Summary

Total word count:
Finished and posted: 70,939 in 18 stories. It's nowhere what I wanted it to be... but it's something, at least.
Unfinished: 12,706 (not counting the epic thing that's still hanging out there from a couple years back) (Okay, so yes, I have a lot of bunnies...)

Types:
There were 5 Ficlets, 7 Short, 4 Medium, and 2 Long
Of those they were 7 stockings, 5 challenge, 6 self
And 15 one shots and 3 series

Average and Median
There were a lot more ficlets and shorts out this year, which brought the average length down to 3,938 with the median being 1,205. The longer ones just didn't get out.

High Points of the Year:
I was actually quite tickled to finally finish and post Blowing Bubbles / Kryptonian Adaptations. It's probably never going to be a favorite among the fans since it relies so heavily on being obsessed with betta fish, but I personally was cracking up over it, so I was happy to get it out.

The rest of the year was a bit of a mixed bag. I did participate and finish in my first Big Bang, but I doubt if I'll do that again. Deadlines are good for me... but I just wasn't happy about it. I do stories of Big Bang length all the time - don't really need the extra on there. Though I loved having Fruitbat's art for it. :)

And for the first time in awhile, I did something other than Smallville. LOL, I really do have other fandoms... eh, it's fun to have a home base. I'm honestly surprised by how long I've been here, but then for me it was always the fic and the ideas, not the show itself.

Low Points:
Just like last year, there were too many bunnies and not enough time. My ability to think up fics is undershone by my inability to write them down. ;p I'm also dragging on the Not A Villain series, which isn't making fans happy. I'm mostly dragging because the one I really *want* to write is a little further along in the series, and it's not helping my ability to fill in the gaps when my fingers are itching for the one ahead. Still, got two done, so that was better than none.

My favorite fic(s) this year:
My little fics got my vote this year, lol. The three I probably liked most were:
The Pirates and the Sea Dragon - just very cute. ^^
Alternate Universe - that came out just the way I wanted it, and was a big hit with the readers too, which always makes me happy.
The Exotic Dancer and the Millionaire - CTBN60's art was a great inspiration for it, and I quite like the universe that appeared. Would like to do more in it after other commitments are taken care of.

My least favorite fic(s) this year:
Um, there weren't any that I really hated this year... Some of the ficlets didn't come out the way I wanted, but eh, ficlets on the fly. I think maybe it comes down to two of the larger ones. Making Plans and Had a Great Fall. Making Plans was a bridging story and I'm never particularly happy when I don't have an actual plot to a story. It's how I feel about the current one I'm writing in the series too. But it had to be done. Had a Great Fall was... it was one that had been in my bunny cage for ages and ages, and it's really good to get it out and completed, but at the same time, the bunny had been so huge, it seems... unfulfilled in the finishing. Not like Bubbles where I was happy to have it out. If I was a professional author, I probably would have tucked it away in a drawer for some time and then come back to give it an overhaul or something. But I'm a fanfic author, so it went out.

Most successful fic:
Alternate Universe. Ended up on AO3 with 85 kudos, which is a lot for a little story. The two Not a Villain series fics got in the 60s, but I discount that a bit because as a series, they tend to pick up more just from being followed.

Most fun fic:
For me personally, that was Blowing Bubbles / Kryptonian Adaptations. LOL, it was totally silly for me and I wrote it smiling. ^^

Most poignant fic:
Now that takes thinking about. Um, I think that would be between three. Alternate Universe was one of them, and then a stuffer for this year Three Minutes to Midnight was angsty as it gets... for the third, I'd have to say Phased Worlds. Building up to Chloe's story was one building block after another and then it all came down to showing the past, which couldn't be altered in the now.

Hardest fic to write:
Making Plans. Man, I hate bridging fics! -_-

Bunnies that are jumping out of the pen:
OMG, bunnies.... oh hey, looking at the list, I actually finished three of the bunnies on last year's list, lol. Yay. Gives hope for this year? There's several more bunnies than just this, but these are the ones hopping out right now:

1. the Not a Villain story that's the one beyond the one I'm writing now. LOL, I know...
2. Muffin Lex. I love muffin Lex, I really want to write muffin Lex. ^^
3. Ownership Issues, next in the Possession series
4. Cliff fic. Should be fairly short. It's another like Had A Great Fall (tempest) that's been in the bunny pile quietly sitting there for the longest time but is now starting to hop around and want out.
5. Expansion of Roads Divergent - that was originally supposed to be a lot longer and got reduced down because of my writing time.
6. I still want to do the cat fic. ^^

There's a lot more in the bunny file, but those are the ones hopping around right now.

The things I've learned this year:
I am resigned to having a life that's not just about writing. ;p But I need to squeeze the writing in around it. Did better at that this year than last year, I think. Though I'm really bad about letting it slide for long periods of time. I think I do better at challenges with deadlines than I do with letting it be on my own. My own, though, tend to be longer, where challenges are shorter. Oh well.

For 2014:
1. Reply to the comments! (Yeah...)
2. WRITE FIC!

Happy 2014, everybody! :)
