'Magnetic Reconnection' really is a term for what causes the auroras, though I'm fudging the science a touch in the story (didn't want to get too detailed). It was pretty much perfect for the guys, though. Clark taking that first step and finally just putting logic aside and running to get Lex. And once Clark has taken that step, how could Lex not follow? :) They probably will have a few more things to work out, but as long as they're both trying...
