and in my head, Clark totally finds a way to save him and the ending is just Lex passing out from the shock. He'll be so surprised to wake up later. *settles Optimism goggles firmly on head* {snicker} I have something similar running around in my brain; Clark rushes in to save him but Lex really was caught in the explosion and Clark takes him back to the Fortress for healing and Mercy is there too and it ends up being a three-way by the time Lex is fully healed... ;D {cough} How I cheer myself from sad endings - imaginary porn. ^^

I'm grateful that you still liked it, sad and all! ^_^ I think it was Tasabian in one of her stories who had Lex say that Clark would always be the first and last thing on his mind, even when dying. And that's so true for that pair...
