It wasn't H & P. How strange! A fic I don't know... I'll have to go reading around to try and find it, lol. Though yeah, if it was serious, I can see it not working quite as well. Has to be just a little tongue-in-cheek with all parties knowing the score. I love your example of it being like throwing a pillow at somebody because that's exactly it. :) Maybe Clark will use that in a future comparison (mind if Clark steals it? ;D)
In writing, there's always some element of bleed from fic to fic, Another hazard of writing stories too close together. The clexmas story I'm about to post is going to seem similar to Twilight's Secrets because I broke off writing Fit Together in frustration and Twilight was written as almost a more compact, lighter, version of it in catharsis. Which, um, oh well. They're still pretty different. Hopefully it won't be too noticeable to most readers. ^^;
That meme a while back, with taking the first line of fics? That definitely made me aware of a few habits I have in regards to fics, but I know there's more. That was a fun meme. I liked that one. :) Definitely useful for pointing out things. I hadn't realized I wrote as much in Clark's POV as I do -- I think it's because I want to love Lex and it's easier to do that as Clark. ;p
(For example, I've had two fics in the last few months where Clark disrupts Lex's marriage.) That's a GOOD thing! Clark needs to disrupt Lex's marriages more often and then get married himself to Lex! ;D Heh, Twins just pointed out to me that all my recent h/c stories have been Lex getting hurt but Clark getting the comfort. Um, pattern... ^^;
I find it really frustrating when I find myself mimicking other writers, which always falls into that uncomfortable area shy of plagiarism, but frightfully close enough to make me wrangle a story in a different direction. Exactly. It's hard, especially when we do want to read to support the other authors (and heck, just *enjoy* it ^_^), but it really does creep into our brain subconsciously. Problems in writing!
