Heh, both you and Ronda picked up on that line as a 'history of trust' yet the funny thing is I hadn't meant it to be. It was just what Lex thought was the urgency of the situation. However, yeah, Lex *does* trust Superman so he didn't question that part at all, so it fits for the comments. Just not something I'd planned out, lol.
I like moments when Superman goes away and it's Clark dealing with Lex. :) In this case, it was Clark all along, but Lex didn't think about it until then.
The 'why' question is one I keep revisiting - I really think Clark and Superman needed to ask it a lot more often.
