Oh I know! Season 1 Lex was so naive about so many real life things. When you think about it, there were a lot of things he would take for granted that just aren't so. His dad had a stable of cops and reporters for sale, so why wouldn't they all be like that? His training was in how to buy then off, not what to do if they really got interested.
